About

the Modesto Teachers Association (MTA) is an advocate for educators representing over 1,700 certificated members.

Members include classroom teachers, Beginning Teacher Support and Assessment (BTSA) mentors, Peer Assistance and Review (PAR) consultants, child development professionals, counselors, special education personnel, and certificated employees of Modesto City Schools (MCS).

Membership

MCS continues to hire teachers during the 2023-2024 school year with most fully credentialed and a few holding a Provisional Internship Permit (PIP) or Short-Term Staff Permit (STSP). The District is continuing to advertise for new K-12 teachers.

Goals

  • To promote community understanding of educational concerns and needs of children.
  • To offer leadership towards solutions.
  • To promote united action and cooperation among individuals and organizations devoted to the educational interests of the community, state, and nation.

Modesto Teachers Association Mission Statement

The goal of the Modesto Teachers Association is to promote community understanding of educational concerns and needs of children, to offer leadership towards solutions, and to promote united action and cooperation among individuals and organizations devoted to the educational interests of the community, state and nation.

Over the years, Modesto Teachers Association has provided a forum to consider a tentative agreement (Collective Bargaining Agreement), which is driven by active members’ input and negotiated by the Bargaining Team.
