Strike Captains

MTA Strike Captains

Every site needs a captain.

Captains keep their coworkers informed, connected, and ready. Signing up isn’t a vote, and it doesn’t commit you to strike. It tells us you’re willing to help lead at your site.

The role

What a Strike Captain does

1

Keeps the site informed

Shares updates from MTA with coworkers and answers their questions.

2

Stays connected

Is MTA’s link to the site by text and phone, especially if district systems aren’t an option.

3

Helps organize the line

If MTA calls a strike, helps organize the picket line at their site.

Other ways in

Not ready to captain? There’s still a role for you.

Picket line regular

Walk the line at your own site.

Phone and text bank

Call and text members to keep everyone in the loop.

Logistics

Food, water, signs, supplies, and rides.

Communications

Photos, video, social media, and community outreach.

Good to know

Before you sign up

Is this the strike vote?

No. This sign-up is separate from any vote. It only tells MTA you’re willing to help.

Who sees my answers?

Only MTA bargaining and organizing leadership. They are not shared with the District.

What happens after I sign up?

An MTA organizer will follow up with you.
